Either way, this gives the MMO (make money online) industry some fuel which seems like it will never run out, also known as the IM (internet marketing) industry.
For all which this industry offers however, very few people actually manage to crack it and the major reason for that, I believe is that they buy into all the hype. They believe the cleverly-worded sales copy which proposes a one-step solution through which you buy some e-book/training course, etc, and then wham, you have a push-button “system” which will make you the financial envy of your peers.
Look at Internet Marketing for What it Really Is
The conundrum however comes into play in that you almost have to get scammed in some or other way first in order to learn how to do Internet Marketing properly, i.e. seeing it for what it is, which is nothing more than operating a business online. 99/100 times whatever training course or e-book on Internet Marketing you’re buying always leads right back to one thing, which is selling. The popular modus operandi of course is that of affiliate marketing, i.e. selling other people’s stuff and then earning commission on each of those sales, with the supposed value proposition offered by whomever sold you the e-book or course peddled as what they teach you about how to go about your affiliate marketing exploits.
So yes, it may appear to be some horrible advice at face value, but you need to get your fingers burned at least once so that you can start to focus on what’s important.
Get busy building your online business
As far as it goes with determining what online business to get into, it should be a simple matter of looking at what products and services you buy online yourself. Naturally there is a lot of competition, so instead of trying to perhaps build your own online business to compete with other well established ones, you could perhaps try to partner up with these well established ones and perhaps offer to extend their services to places they’ve not quite reached yet.
For example, in the Search Engine Optimisation arena it would be really hard to try and catch up to some of the market leaders of the industry, so instead of competing with the established players such as WEBRIS, a top SEO agency in Miami, you could perhaps try to partner up with them and essentially extend their services to your own area, even if you’re located in a totally different country.
Once you get some mileage by way of learning how to run even a small portion of a bigger online business, you can then look into going it yourself and starting your own thing, ideally something which complements the partnerships you’ve built up with other online businesses.
Refine your marketing and sales skills
At the end of the day this is what’s of utmost importance in the Internet Marketing world – the ability to sell. You simply have to learn how to sell, even if it means you’re never going to sell any of your own products and services.
This is where some sort of education comes into play and I’m not talking about a college degree in marketing because in the digital space things move so quickly that by the time you’ve finished studying just one of your textbooks, things have changed. The best approach in this instance is getting your hands dirty and trying out the various online marketing techniques you come across and at this stage in your Internet Marketing journey, when you come across another e-book, coaching seminar or training course you will quite easily be able to asks yourself questions like “Why on earth is this guy selling his Internet Marketing secrets which supposedly make him so much money?”
Success at Internet Marketing only requires you to operate it like the business it is – forget all the other stuff.
